[12.02.2010] Greipel Wins in Mallorca
Northwave athlete and sprinting sensation Andre Greipel has topped the podium at Challenge Ciclista a Mallorca, Spain. Coming off the heels of his overall and three stage wins at the Tour Down Under, the German fastman has been racing fearlessly in Spain and knocking at the door of his first win at the Spanish season opener.
The stage took in five categorized climbs, four Cat. 2 and one Cat. 3, chilly temperatures and a slew of breakaways that his team had to reel in during the undulating race. “In the last 40 kilometers my HTC-Columbia teammates did a lot of chasing of the riders who’d broken away and that way we had everything under control in the last part of the stage” stated Greipel.
Following a leadout from his teammate Vincent Reynes, Greipel took it to the line with 200 meters to go and held off his rivals. Greipel continues to win on his Aerlite SBS with its S.B.S. buckle system to give him the power he needs. |
